The Barn Cafe at Whirlow Hall Farm
Highland Cows and a place to eat
Looking for a bite to eat before or after seeing our Highland Cows, whilst we do not do a highland cow afternoon tea, which seems to be the latest fad, we pride ourselves on doing things a little differently and you can choose from a selection of sandwiches and desserts, or you can treat yourself to some cooked farm-fresh food at the onsite cafe.
Check out our menus below plus there are daily specials on the chalkboard inside the cafe too!
We really hope you'll come up and enjoy what we have to offer - we can't wait to see you!
Current opening times:
Wednesday - Thursday, 9am to 3pm,
Friday - Sunday, 9am - 4pm
(Kitchen closes at 2.30pm for brunch, deli and drinks still available)
We recommend booking to secure your seating.
To make a booking please email thebarnbookings@whirlowhallfarm.org
who will get in touch to let you know when it's confirmed.
Please note that we are not open on Mondays and Tuesdays - so you may not hear back from us for a few days if you're booking is made on, or just before those days.
N.B. The Barn Cafe is run by Whirlow Hall Farm Trust and not Highland Cows of the Peak.
Food with thought
The team at The Barn have all worked flat out to make sure you have an enjoyable visit and something delicious to eat. They've developed a wonderful menu full of great dishes that showcase the best that the farm and local producers have to offer - there's lots of home-made, home-grown going on!! We've got great breakfast options, delicious sandwiches along with changing specials. We've also got a great selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes and deli items throughout the day. And the childrens' menu has been revamped too, so that no-one is left out! There really is something for everyone.
Wine and Fizz
Did you know we had our very own vineyard right here on the edge of Sheffield? In 2010 with the help of a number of fantastic supporters we planted a small vineyard in one of our fields. Now, ten years later, we grow three varieties of grapes: rondo, solaris and phoenix. These are entirely tended by our volunteers and in 2019 our wine was made available to the public in the farm shop, café and for weddings.
We currently produce fantastic red, white and rose still wines, as well as white and rose English Sparkling Wines.
Cider
Alongside our vineyard is our heritage orchard, with over 50 trees and nearly as many varieties.
